First Telescopic View of Jupiter

This is the spark that ignited my passion for astronomy. I had already developed a keen interest in all things “Space” thanks to my daughter, who will be the first human to set foot on Mars (my son’s going to be a Blue Angel, but I don’t think he realizes yet that Navy fighter pilots make some of the best astronauts!).

This pic was taken with a 70mm Gskyer refractor and my iPhone 11. It doesn’t look like much. But when I saw, for the first time with my own eyes, two celestial bodies orbiting another, I was speechless. Imagine how Galileo Galilei must have felt 412 years ago when he first discovered that earth is not actually the center of the universe.
